Political Imaginations of Community Kitchens in Sweden

Whereas the sociology of food has drawn attention to differences between corporate and alternative foodways, political imaginations underpinning latter are often overlooked. This article distinguishes different community kitchen, a set practices characterised by collective preparation redistribution food. The analysis builds on ethnographic archive material in Sweden outline how folkkök (people’s kitchen) was once an institutional practice address urban insecurity, soon outsourced as altruistic soup kitchens, then regenerated century later anarchist movement.
